At Four Seasons Resorts Maldives - across the pristine waters of Kuda Huraa and Landaa Giraavaru - sustainability isn’t a department. It’s a philosophy, a design principle, and a brand promise. This year, the resort group proudly celebrates two defining milestones: 15 years of the Maldivian Sea Turtle Conservation Programme (MSTCP) and the installation of its 9,000th coral frame, in partnership with Reefscapers.
Designing a Future Beneath the Surface
It began in 2010 with the inauguration of the Maldives’ first Turtle Rehabilitation Centre at Landaa Giraavaru. Since then, more than 500 sea turtles have been rescued and treated, with 280+ released back into the wild. Simultaneously, a visionary coral restoration model - designed with oceanographer Thomas Le Berre - introduced a method of affixing coral fragments to metal frames on the ocean floor.
The result: one of the largest artificial reef structures in the Indian Ocean, now thriving across 3.05 acres.

A Commitment That Runs as Deep as the Ocean
“These 15 years have been a journey of learning, innovation, and hope. From our first rescued turtle to our 9,000th coral frame, we remain committed to marine protection and global ocean awareness.”
As climate concerns rise globally, Four Seasons Resorts Maldives continues to lead by example - merging luxury with purpose, and designing experiences that leave both memories and meaning in their wake.
