Sacred Landscapes: Anand Bekwad's Soulful Art Exhibition Opens June 25, 2025 at Raja Ravi Varma Gallery, Pune

Step into a realm where brushstrokes whisper of devotion, landscapes breathe with memory, and colours carry the weight of emotion.

Renowned Indian artist Anand Bekwad presents "Sacred Landscapes," a solo exhibition that offers an evocative journey through nature, spirituality, and the unseen forces that shape our inner and outer worlds. Known for his masterful use of watercolour and acrylic, Anand's work transcends physical landscapes to explore sacred moments suspended in time, much like other celebrated artists featured in the world's top art galleries.

This exhibition invites you to experience the beauty and stillness of places like Varanasi and Madurai, where the Ganges flows past ancient ghats, and temples rise from the mist of devotion. Each painting is a quiet meditation—a fusion of spirit and scene—infused with Anand's signature emotional depth and visual poetry.

About the Artist: Anand M. Bekwad

Born in Pune, Maharashtra, and formally trained in Drawing and Painting from Belgaum, Karnataka, Anand Bekwad is a visual storyteller whose work weaves together nature, memory, and spirituality. His artistic journey began in childhood, inspired by a family friend who was an artist. What started as playful curiosity soon became a lifelong pursuit.

Initially focused on landscapes, Anand gradually expanded his expression to include floral compositions and spiritual cityscapes. While his landscapes are largely rendered in watercolours, he turns to acrylics to bring his floral and abstract works to life—each medium chosen with intention and balance. His approach resonates with contemporary movements in the Indian modernist art scene.

"I want people to feel happy and tranquil when they look at my work," says Anand. "Balance is the key."

Themes That Transcend Form

At the heart of Anand's work lies a gentle yet powerful dialogue between the outer landscape and the inner spirit. From the meditative stillness of a lotus bloom to the layered architecture of Varanasi's riverbanks, his art captures not just what is seen, but what is felt. This spiritual approach to art connects with other renowned contemporary works, including those featured in mystical art exhibitions across India.

"My paintings are less about representation and more about capturing the unseen—the feeling of a place, the mood of a moment, the spiritual resonance that lingers beyond form."

His ongoing series featuring the landscapes of Banaras and Madurai offers a lyrical journey through water, ritual, and sacred energy—rendered in vibrant washes, fluid line work, and atmospheric textures. For art enthusiasts interested in exploring more contemporary artistic expressions, the recent Andy Warhol exhibition revelations provide fascinating insights into modern artistic techniques.

Exhibitions & Recognition

Over the years, Anand's work has been featured in more than 30 solo and group exhibitions across India, including prestigious venues that rank among the world's most celebrated art spaces:

  • Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai
  • Nehru Centre – Discovery of India, Worli
  • Darpan Art Gallery, Pune
  • Shrishti Art Gallery, Hyderabad
  • Vinnyasa Premier Art Gallery, Chennai
  • Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, Bangalore

His paintings continue to resonate with collectors and critics alike for their emotional honesty and meditative stillness. The art market's appreciation for such works is evident in recent significant art auction results and the growing recognition of spiritual themes in contemporary art.

A Journey Still Unfolding

With over a decade of independent practice and seven years of experience as a background artist in animation, Anand brings both technical discipline and intuitive depth to his canvases.

He envisions a future where travel, cultural immersion, and spiritual exploration further inform his work. A scholarship or opportunity, he says, would help deepen his commitment to creating art that is "honest, meditative, and meaningful." This vision aligns with the broader trends in India's evolving luxury art scene.

Experience Sacred Spaces

This June, allow yourself to slow down, breathe deeply, and enter the Sacred Spaces Anand Bekwad has so lovingly created. More than an exhibition, it is an invitation to reflect, reconnect, and rediscover beauty in stillness. For those interested in exploring more artistic expressions that merge spirituality with contemporary art, consider visiting other notable revolutionary art exhibitions that are shaping today's cultural landscape.

Whether you're an art collector seeking meaningful additions to your collection or simply someone who appreciates the transformative power of visual art, this exhibition offers a rare opportunity to witness the convergence of technical mastery and spiritual depth in contemporary Indian painting.
