A Fusion of Art and Philanthropy - Phillips' Prestigious Editions Auction Showcasing Schellmann's Treasures for a Noble Cause

Art Meets Altruism: Phillips’ Landmark Auction Supports Ars Publicata Project

Phillips is set to host the London Evening & Day Editions auction in January 2024, headlined by an outstanding collection from the Archive of Edition Schellmann. This auction, featuring works produced by Jörg Schellmann in collaboration with 20th-century art luminaries, serves a philanthropic purpose: to support the ars publicata project.

The project, initiated by Jörg, Nanke, and Pauline Schellmann, is a comprehensive digital archive showcasing contemporary fine art editions. The auction will offer 40 remarkable pieces from Schellmann's Archive, including rare and unique color variants, with prices ranging from £800 to £150,000. Enthusiasts can preview these masterpieces at Phillips galleries in Berkeley Square, starting 11 January, leading up to the auction on 17 and 18 January.

Phillips’ Specialist Expresses Excitement for the Upcoming Auction

Anne Schneider-Wilson, Senior International Specialist in Editions at Phillips, expressed excitement about the upcoming auction. She remarked on the unique opportunity to present works from the Archive of Edition Schellmann, emphasizing the auction's role in funding the ars publicata project.

This event will not only showcase pieces by artists like Joseph Beuys, Andy Warhol, and Donald Judd but also highlight Schellmann's commitment to innovative edition-making. This collaborative sale follows the success of a standalone auction in 2019, which surpassed expectations. Schneider-Wilson looks forward to offering these exceptional works and contributing to the influential initiatives of ars publicata during the preview and auction in January 2024.
