Atmosphere Kanifushi, a blissfully tropical Maldivian resort, has recently unveiled a new overwater bar, aptly named The Lantern Bar. The Asian fusion bar is situated on the southern side of Kanifushi island, perched above a crystal-clear aquamarine lagoon, much like a lantern illuminating the ocean.

This delightful new outlet, an expansion of the award-winning restaurant Just Veg, is all about slowing down, savouring gorgeous sunset colours, and relaxing into the night in the lantern-lit atmosphere as the night sky fills with stars.

Visitors may enjoy flavorful vegetarian plates that artistically recreate famous Asian meals. Imagine spring rolls, kebabs, crostini, and falafels served with homemade dipping sauces and side dishes. Complementing the delicacies are a range of ‘Elixirs’ - delectable, therapeutic mocktails crafted by an Ayurvedic doctor that not only charm the taste buds but also leave the body fed and invigorated. Elements of nature, such as hibiscus and aloe vera, combine with traditional mixers to create enchantment in the glass and beyond.

The symbolism of light as pure, cheerful, victorious, and even heavenly inspired the name Lantern Bar. In a great number of East Asian civilizations, the endless periods of life are viewed as a whole, harmonious whole. On a remote island such as Atmosphere Kanifushi, one approaches these natural cycles even more closely.

From the logo and interior design to the menu, lanterns and lights are subtly referenced throughout the experience. Consider, for example, the painting that frames the bar counter and shows a local scene in half paint and half metal, symbolising the dichotomy of light and shadow.

Lantern Bar has a Sampler Platter Menu from 5 pm to 8 pm.

Additionally, from 8 pm to 10.30 pm, customers may enjoy the evening menu from Simply Veg, a specialist restaurant offering modern, plant-based cuisine with dishes from Arabic, Indian, and Mediterranean countries.
