Developed by Executive Chef Ho Chi Ming and Anglo-Indian culinary historian Bridget White-Kumar, the new restaurant brings Bengaluru's distinctive culinary heritage into a contemporary dining setting.
Bengaluru, November 2026: Renaissance Bengaluru Race Course Hotel has introduced Cooke Town, a new all-day dining restaurant celebrating Bengaluru's Anglo-Indian culinary heritage. Inspired by the city's historic neighbourhoods, the restaurant places traditional Anglo-Indian cuisine at the centre of its offering, bringing together time-honoured recipes, cultural influences and contemporary hospitality.
Named after one of Bengaluru's best-known old neighbourhoods, Cooke Town reflects the culinary traditions shaped by colonial-era influences, Indian ingredients and generations of family cooking. The restaurant draws inspiration from an older Bengaluru, where food, architecture and community life were closely connected.
Preserving Bengaluru's Anglo-Indian Culinary Traditions
The menu has been developed by Executive Chef Ho Chi Ming, in collaboration with Chef Bridget White-Kumar, an Anglo-Indian culinary historian and author known for documenting and preserving the community's food traditions.
Their collaboration brings traditional family recipes and lesser-known Anglo-Indian preparations into focus, offering diners an opportunity to explore a cuisine that occupies a distinctive place in Bengaluru's culinary history, much like the Anglo-Indian culinary wonders showcased at Four Seasons Bengaluru.
While Anglo-Indian food remains the restaurant's defining influence, the menu also incorporates selected dishes from regional Indian cuisine and international kitchens, creating an all-day dining experience suited to family breakfasts, a leisurely Sunday brunch, casual lunches and relaxed dinners.
The concept follows Renaissance Hotels' emphasis on connecting guests with local neighbourhoods and their cultural identities. Rather than treating regional heritage as a decorative theme, Cooke Town uses its culinary programme to introduce guests to the flavours and stories associated with Bengaluru's Anglo-Indian community.
A Dining Experience Rooted in Old Bengaluru
The restaurant's identity draws from the character of Bengaluru's older neighbourhoods, where diverse communities, architectural influences and culinary traditions have contributed to the city's evolving cultural landscape.
For diners familiar with Anglo-Indian cooking, Cooke Town offers an opportunity to revisit traditional flavours. For a younger generation and visitors to Bengaluru, it introduces a culinary tradition that is less widely represented in the city's contemporary restaurant scene.
Speaking on the launch, Sita Lekshmi, General Manager, Renaissance Bengaluru Race Course Hotel, said:
“Cooke Town brings a distinctive part of Bengaluru's culinary identity to the forefront, with Anglo-Indian cuisine at the heart of the experience. We wanted to create an all-day dining restaurant that feels rooted in the city while offering something guests may not encounter every day. This soft launch is an exciting beginning, and we look forward to welcoming Bengaluru to discover Cooke Town and the stories behind its food.”
Nathan Andrews, Business Head, Hospitality, DS Group, added:
“Cooke Town reflects our vision to continually evolve the hotel's dining experiences and introduce concepts with a stronger sense of identity and relevance to the city. The focus on Anglo-Indian cuisine gives the restaurant a distinctive character, while the thought behind the space and experience positions it as a meaningful addition to Bengaluru's dining landscape. We see this as part of our continued investment in creating experiences that resonate with both our guests and the city.”
With its emphasis on culinary heritage and neighbourhood identity, Cooke Town represents a thoughtful addition to Bengaluru's hospitality landscape. By bringing Anglo-Indian recipes and their cultural history into a contemporary restaurant setting, Renaissance Bengaluru Race Course Hotel offers a dining experience that connects the city's past with its evolving food culture.
