IATA Says Global Air travel Will Not Recover Till 2024; Huge Opportunity For Private Jet Players

Worldwide air travel will not recuperate from the Covid-19 emergency until 2024, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) declared recently. That is a year later than the carrier body's previous projection.

IATA, which represents 290 carriers, cited the languid recuperation for multiple components, including an absence of purchaser certainty, decrease in business travel, and new coronavirus spikes in the United States and other locations.

A per new estimates the global traveler traffic will drop 55 per cent in 2020, contrasted with 2019. Around the month of April, the IATA had assumed the drop to be around 46 per cent.

Traveler numbers are estimated to rise 62 per cent 12 months from today, but will remain down by 30 per cent compared to pre-Covid situation, with a full recovery to pre-pandemic levels unlikely until a few years from current times.

As per Alexandre de Juniac, IATA’s director general and CEO, passenger traffic has hit rock bottom in April 2020 and the recovery has been extremely poor. However domestic flying has improved.

As far as the confidence of air travelers is concerned, it is at its lowest and with the United Kingdom’s latest decision to put blanket quarantine on all travelers returning from Spain the situation has further deteriorated.

The British government changed its stance on UK-Spain travel corridor recently, ordering 14-day isolation for all vacationers returning from Spain as there has been a spike in coronavirus cases in Spain.

A possible vaccine and other better treatments against Covid-19 could lead to a faster recovery for commercial jets. However it remains very a depressed market for commercial flights as of now since Covid infections globally are still growing. Therefore as per de Juniac this will create a longer recovery period for the airline industry and the global economy overall.

However the private jet industry is booming as the demand for personal flights has increased with corporate bigwigs and affluent travelers using private jet charter services to reach important destinations for work and pleasure.
