Why is Ikat Fabric Back in Business? Indian Fashion Designers and Bollywood Have The Answer

Ikat means 'to bind' and is a word that has come from Indonesia. It is a form of dyeing technique deployed to pattern textiles that use resist dyeing on the yarns before dyeing and weaving the fabric.

Ikat has become extremely popular again in the recent years and has been making a lot of noise in the Indian as well as the international fashion industry.
Ikat was popularized in the beginning of the 20th century in Europe and had actually become a part of the fashion language. This happened as many scholars from Europe used to visit centres in South East Asia to know more about the rich fabrics and textiles in this region.

Post that they are woven collectively. Although it has been well known since many years, it had almost gone down below the radar but in the recent years has made a very strong rebound. It has some of the best Fashion designers from India and also the Indian film industry to thank, for the same.

The Indian Fashion industry is one of the biggest and the most vibrant ones in the world today. There are many leading fashion designers and also luxury fashion designers in India that are making some stunning and creative fashion garments from Ikat fabric. Also the fact that many of the leading Bollywood actors have been flaunting designer clothes made from Ikat, the demand for luxury Indian fashion made from Ikat has simply shot through the roof.
