The Speedmaster Super Racing by Omega Becomes The First Timepiece Globally Featuring The Spirate System

Omega Speedmaster Super Racing With the Spirate System

OMEGA, the Swiss luxury wristwatch headquartered in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland, has recently introduced the amazing  44.25 mm Speedmaster Super Racing – the first timepiece in the world to include the Spirate System: OMEGA's fine-tune balancing spring mechanism.

This one-of-a-kind technology enables OMEGA to attain an accuracy certification of 0/+2 seconds every day.

To produce its most recent Speedmaster, OMEGA had to reinvent the wheel by combining the technological resources of the Swatch Group with the accuracy, stability, and dependability of its chronometrically superior in-house movements. The revolutionary answer was a completely new Si14 balance spring that allows the watchmaker to modify the stiffness of the hairspring's attachment point through an eccentric adjustment mechanism on the balance bridge.

This innovative strategy, which is based on the construction of a high-precision articulated frame with flexible bearings, exemplifies OMEGA's propensity for innovation.

The stainless steel exterior of the Speedmaster Super Racing commemorates the debut of the Seamaster Aqua Terra >15'000 GAUSS in 2013. The dial is surrounded by a minute track in racing style and a black ceramic bezel ring with the iconic tachymeter scale in fresh yellow "grand feu" enamel. This vibrant yellow hue is also seen on the chronograph hand's gradient and the little seconds hand at 9 o'clock, which are striped. The 60 minute/12 hour recorder located immediately opposite at 3 o'clock on the watch also functions as a second time zone.

The watch is driven by OMEGA's Co-Axial Master Chronometer 9920, a state-of-the-art mechanism. The black diamond-polished and bevelled arrowhead indexes are filled with Super-LumiNova that produces a yellow light.

At 6 o'clock, there is a stylish monthly reminder of the >15'000 GAUSS 10-year anniversary: a "10" in Speedmaster trademark type that displays in the watch's date window every month.

An Attractive Package

The new Speedmaster Super Racing has a bracelet made from a material other than steel. A NATO strap made from recycled nylon with black and yellow stripes, echoing the characteristic colour code of the Seamaster Aqua Terra >15'000 GAUSS introduced ten years ago to the day. The presentation package also contains the recycled nylon NATO strap and a strap-changing tool.
