About Rado

Along with Longines and Union Glashütte, Rado is a "premium" brand of the Swiss watchmaking company Swatch Group. It was established in Lengnau, Switzerland, in 1917 as Schlup & Co., which started using the Rado name in the 1950s. Previously, it was a component of Sagiter and the General Watch Co./ASUAG. Today, Rado is recognised for its use of high-tech materials, such as ceramic (descended from DiaStar) and the seahorse and anchor insignia, which denote waterproof and automated watches, respectively.
