Swiss Watchmaker Greubel Forsey Has Introduced The GMT Balancier Convexe Titanium Timepiece

The new GMT Balancier Convexe from Greubel Forsey is a timepiece with an angled balance wheel and an image of the Earth as its focal point. Titanium sphere with continents, seas, and oceans is a signature piece of the Atelier. Our world, as in the movie, spins once every 24 hours. It has three rings around it that show the local and universal time in hours and minutes.

When nighttime UTC is shown, the 24 time zones are placed against a black backdrop, and when daytime UTC is displayed, the backgrounds are white.

The two outer rings display local time, with one displaying the hours in a grey satin finish and the other displaying the minutes on a thin black ring. Each individual hand on the time displays has a triangular, glowing red tip. These hands rotate around two additional rings to show the time in GMT. You can see the second time zone on the off-center display at 10 o'clock, indicated by the blue gold hand.

The UTC time of Paris has been swapped out for La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, on the caseback's 24-zone time zone disc, which indicates the UTC time of the 24 reference cities.

The 30 degree slanted balance wheel is supported by polished steel pillars and a flat black polished and barrel polished steel balance wheel bridge. The blue gold hand of the tiny seconds subdial sits to its right. Each titanium bridge is hand-polished with a steel brush for a high-quality finish. The reflective qualities of the frosted surfaces draw attention to the globe.

The titanium case measures 46.5mm in diameter at the bezel and 43.5mm at the caseband, making it comfortable to wear due to its conforming shape to the wrist.

Between 2022 and 2024, just 66 GMT Balancier Convexe watches will be made by Greubel Forsey.
