Reliance Retail Ventures Invests in Abraham & Thakore

Reliance Retail Ventures has been on a luxury investment spree as of late. Recently, the company announced that it was investing in luxury Indian fashion designer Abraham & Thakore.

The luxury fashion market in India is booming, and Reliance Retail Ventures is looking to capitalize on that growth. Abraham & Thakore are well-known for their high-quality Indian fashion and the company is hoping that this investment will help them reach a wider audience.

Unique Expression of Indian Craftsmanship

"Abraham & Thakore's innovative material selection and modern interpretation of traditional textile processes have resulted in the brand developing a very unique design identity. With Indian luxury consumers undergoing a generational shift in their purchasing habits, there is a renewed appreciation for Abraham & Thakore's timeless design, and we are excited to partner with the brand to bring its unique expression of Indian craftsmanship to global consumers," said Isha Ambani, Director, Reliance Retail Ventures Limited.

History

Founded in 1992 by David Abraham and Rakesh Thakore, this luxury fashion brand was quickly joined by Kevin Nigli, who became renowned as the "&" in Abraham & Thakore (A&T).

A&T's interpretation of Indian textiles began with loungewear and home collections offered first at London's The Conran Shop and afterwards at prestigious worldwide retailers like as Liberty, Browns, Harrods, and Selfridges.

Selling on foreign shoresFor over 15 years, the brand was mostly sold in foreign outlets until establishing a presence in India with their first fashion show presentation.

"Abraham & Thakore is thrilled to collaborate with RRVL, the firm that is transforming India's luxury scene. We will be expanding the brand's visibility and bringing together fashion and lifestyle lines, which will encompass home furnishings and leisure wear, via this relationship," David Abraham said.

David Abraham, Rakesh Thakore, and Kevin Nigli will continue to drive the brand's creative direction.

Multiple luxury brand investments

Reliance has invested in Satya Paul, Ritu Kumar, Raghavendra Rathore, ak-ok, and Manish Malhotra in the last few of years and formed a joint venture with Rahul Mishra.
