Lucid Motors Unveils a Luxury Electric Sedan - The Lucid Air

Through a virtual event from its headquarters at Silicon Valley, Lucid Motors launched its debut vehicle, the Lucid Air electric sedan. This sleek, snazzy beast comes with features that will definitely pack a punch. It has a range of up to 517 miles, can hit a quarter-mile in under 10 seconds, packs over 1,000 horsepower, and begins with the price of ‘under $80,00’.

Lucid Motors was founded as Atieva in 2007, initially producing high performance batteries for Formula E racing teams, and changing to ‘Lucid Motors’ only in 2016.  Their new masterpiece has been years in the making, and while originally having planned to be unveiled at the New York Auto Show in early 2020, got derailed by the onset of the pandemic.

Lucid Air was created under the direction of former Tesla Model S lead engineer Peter Rawlinson (who is now CEO of Lucid Motors), and so there is extensive speculation that knowledge about Tesla’s internal expertise and technical know- may have given Lucid Motors a very powerful advantage in creating the ultimate electric luxury sedan. Elon Musk, Tesla’s current CEO, however, stated that Rawlinson had never designed Model S.
Also, Lucid Air is so much more than just a Model S knockoff. In fact, Air seems to have outperformed Model S in an array of criteria such as range, acceleration, charging time, etc.

There have been many brands that have tried and failed to replicate and rise above the ranks of Tesla. Unlike them, though, Lucid Motors actually has a lot of potential in terms of solid investors and a global network that is capable enough to compete with Musk.

Rawlinson’s bold ambition to swipe Tesla’s customers has officially come into action with the introduction of Lucid Air, and an announcement of another SUV model to follow soon.
