Hublot Goes Crypto, Launches Big Bang Unico With a Ledger Nano X Crypto Wallet

Swiss Luxury Watchmaker Hublot has always been at the cutting edge of technical innovation. Hublot and Ledger have teamed up to combine high-end crypto technology and the ancient currency 'electrum' with traditional watch craftsmanship

The Swiss watchmaker has now introduced the Big Bang Unico Ledger, a groundbreaking timepiece built in collaboration with Ledger, the world's top and most secure crypto and digital asset network, which is already trusted by 4 million clients worldwide. The watch combines high-end cryptography technology with traditional watchmaking. This limited-edition 50-piece Big Bang Unico equipped with a Ledger Nano X crypto wallet is a delightful addition to the accomplishments od this legendary luxury watchmaker.

The Big Bang Unico Ledger bundle includes three key components: the watch, a limited-edition Ledger Nano X crypto wallet, and a stunning sapphire watch box.

The watch is based on the Big Bang Unico, which has a 42mm black ceramic casing and an in-house automatic chronograph movement with skeletonized construction. The watch's most remarkable feature is its high-contrast golden bezel, which is cast in solid "Electrum," a natural gold and silver alloy that was utilised by Lydian culture to make the oldest known coins in roughly 580-590 BC. 

For the watch, Hublot's R&D department created a new stainless Electrum alloy with a 50/50 gold-silver composition. Six times onto the outside border of the bezel is inscribed the Bitcoin Latin motto "Vires in Numeris," meaning strength in numbers. These elements, taken together, encapsulate the essence of the world's oldest and most recent currencies. The case back has an etched Ledger logo and a limited-edition number of 50.

The watch is accompanied with the Ledger & Hublot Nano X, a limited-edition crypto key available only with the watch. The Nano X is Ledger's flagship digital asset wallet, a market-leading Bluetooth-enabled device for securely encrypting, safeguarding, managing, and increasing your crypto assets. The Nano X is matte black in colour and has both the Ledger and Hublot trademarks.

These will be given in a custom presentation box made of translucent smoked black sapphire, designed to symbolise the transparency and security of blockchain technology and decentralised money. Additionally, the case makes an ironic allusion to the solid, previously impermeable character of conventional vaults and safes, which are useless for digital valuables.
