DHL Express Partners With South African Shoe Brand Veldskoen, Diving Further Into High Fashion

German global logistics company DHL Express's move into high fashion continues with its first cooperation with an African brand, Veldskoen footwear. DHL has collaborated on numerous surprising fashion projects over the years, including a T-shirt with Vetements that debuted on the Paris catwalk in 2016 and a limited-edition shoe with Budapester to honour the company's 50th anniversary.

DHL's newest fashion collaboration is with South African footwear brand Veldskoen, with the unveiling of a new limited-edition sneaker entitled 'Dear Everyone.' The shoe will be accessible through a drop lottery system, with interested parties registering at DHLxVeldskoen.com until April 15.

There are only 365 pairs available of the one-of-a-kind, handmade shoe, which was debuted in London on March 17, 2022 and will be on show for four days at Selfridges in two distinct branded displays.

Each pair of DHL + Veldskoen 'Dear Everyone' shoes is handcrafted in Durban, South Africa, by 66 pairs of hands and contains a painting on the side panels by local artist Reggie Kumalo that incorporates campaign message and subtle South African allusions.

Veldskoen and DHL Express partner Megan Collinicos, vice president of marketing at DHL Express Sub Saharan Africa, said in a statement:

"For decades, we have aided the global success of designers and fashion labels by developing customised shipping solutions and connecting them to a larger, global audience through our unique logistics network."
Following the success of our previous fashion partnerships in Europe, North America, and Asia, we sought for an African brand for our next interesting venture.
"Veldskoen modernised an iconic South African shoe by adding pops of colour to the soles and laces, and have amassed an outstanding global consumer following since its start in 2016. And over the last two months, we've been collaborating with the team at Veldskoen to reimagine the classic veldskoen."

'When DHL contacted us about collaborating on a limited edition sneaker to celebrate South African design, it was a no-brainer. Their prior fashion collaborations pushed the limits with some surprising combinations, so being chosen as the first African brand for the upcoming collaboration was quite thrilling. There were immediate synergies between our two businesses, the most evident being a shared commitment to making a positive influence in the areas in which we operate,'
says Veldskoen CEO Nick Dreyer.
