Christie's New York is set to dazzle watch aficionados with the auction of its most expensive watch ever—a limited-edition Richard Mille RM56-02 AO Tourbillon Sapphire, anticipated to fetch up to $4 million. This masterpiece, crafted by the renowned watchmaker in 2014, is part of an exclusive collection of just 10 pieces.

Leading the Auction: A Horological Marvel
The RM56-02 AO Tourbillon Sapphire stands out with its movement ingeniously suspended within a transparent sapphire case. This marvel of micro-engineering and pioneering materials showcases the pinnacle of horological innovation and craftsmanship. Rebecca Ross, head of sale at Christie's New York, expressed enthusiasm about offering the Limited-Edition Richard Mille RM56-02 AO Tourbillon Sapphire, considering it a remarkable achievement in both pioneering materials and micro-engineering.

Unparalleled Craftsmanship
Made from grade-5 titanium, the RM56-02 AO features a movement held in place by a delicate 0.35mm cable, meticulously ratcheted around a system of tiny pulleys. This intricate construction not only enhances the watch’s aesthetic appeal but also exemplifies Richard Mille's commitment to precision and innovation.

The Important Watches sale on June 10 will also feature other notable timepieces, including a rare stainless steel Rolex Daytona owned by the late NASA astronaut Walter Cunningham, with a high estimate of $450,000. Additionally, a Tiffany-customized gold Patek Philippe, once owned by US President Lyndon B. Johnson, will be on offer, estimated to fetch up to $45,000.
