British Fashion Brand Paul Smith, Teams With Japanese Luggage company Porter to Launch New Range of Bags & Accessories For Spring/Summer 2022

Paul Smith, a British fashion company, has teamed with Porter, a Japanese luggage manufacturer, to create a new range of bags and accessories for the spring/summer 2022 season. The bag line pays homage to Porter's distinctive forms while also including Paul Smith's characteristic colours and stripes. The collection had its debut in June 2021 at Paul Smith's spring/summer 2022 men's runway show.

The bags are made of Porter's characteristic nylon twill — the brand's original fabric that is both lightweight and durable. This limited-edition collaboration contains iconic Porter pieces such as the helmet bag, duffel shoulder bag, and wallets, all of which have been reimagined with Paul Smith's motifs.

The colour palette was inspired by the considered tones of Paul Smith's spring/summer 2022 menswear collection, which was inspired by the great outdoors, with organic tones of green and blue seen in bold stripes to represent natural and muted colours, and midnight black, white, and red stripes to reflect the hues seen in the sky at sunrise. Porter and Paul Smith's emblems are affixed on the front of the bags, highlighting the two businesses' tight collaboration.

The relationship between Paul Smith and Porter has actually come a full circle as it was Paul Smith's shop which was the foremost in the UK to sell Porter bags and accessories.

In a way it also reflects Smith's lifelong appreciation for meticulous Japanese craftsmanship and manufacturing, as well as his respect and admiration for the Porter brand. From February 16, 2022 the Paul Smith & Porter collection will be available online and in certain Paul Smith and select Porter stores.
