Aquella By Mellowdrama Brings The Timeless Beauity of The Ocean to its Quintessential Silhouettes

Aquella, from Mellowdrama's Autumn/Winter 2023 collection, introduces the endless grace of the ocean to classic silhouettes. The oceans keep the world's emotions roiling and groan against the breezes with each change, while providing life to the trillions of creatures who call her home.

In Aquella, Mellowdrama draws upon these many moods and the ocean's infinite grace to bring to life a palette of blues, greys, and whites that reflects the true complexity and character of these five sisters.

Aquella, the signature line of the brand, is comprised of handwoven denim fabrics, distressed denim panels and overdyed and bleached denim created from 100 percent handwoven cotton. In a collection of details, the M Monogram appliqué and signature closure trim add refinement and understated luxury.

However, the collection's most notable piece is a play. Precisely formed patterns of sequins bring an ocean spray to life on a denim jacket, hand-blocked vertical stripes on a casual longline dress remind you of currents that seethe beneath a calm surface, tasselled jackets remind you of wind flirting with waves, and crisp white button-down shirts with statement buttons evoke sun-drenched summer afternoons from the past.

"Aquella was inspired by the concept of transition across seasons and time. I desired to depict the light and colour ballet occurring in the ocean's depths. Intrigued by the textures and formations of the world below, this collection utilises our signature metallic accents, uniquely layered denim mosaic cladding, zipper detail and tufted denim textures to create a tactile experience that is both daring and refined. I can't wait to see how individuals interpret and wear this collection."
